The C-Class 300 h Saloon impresses with its responsibly-minded drive technology.

Like for the S-Class, Mercedes-Benz offers a diesel engine combined with a hybrid module for the new C-Class. In this case, the 4-cylinder diesel engine is paired with a compact electric motor from the hybrid modular system. The C-Class 300 h Saloon has a combined output of 170 kW (231 hp) – 20 kW of which is contributed by the electric motor in the hybrid module, drawing its power from a 0.8 kWh battery which is also charged by recuperation in overrun mode while en route. For the first few metres after setting off and up to a speed of 35 km/h, the C 300 h runs on electric power alone. Only after this is the common-rail diesel engine activated. One particularly impressive aspect of the interaction between engine and motor is the combined torque of 600 Nm – with 250 Nm of this total being provided by the hybrid module. This enhanced agility increases safety and driving pleasure, particularly when overtaking and accelerating. Efficiency-enhancing measures include the standard-fit ECO start/stop function and intelligent drive system management for an anticipatory powertrain operating strategy.
